Kids & Teens Half-Term Fashion & Upcycle Workshop – One-Day Creative Intensive
Keep kids and teens creative and inspired this half-term with a hands-on workshop exploring the art of sashiko stitching and visible mending. In just one day, participants will learn traditional Japanese techniques and playful patterns to repair, decorate, and transform old clothes or fabric into unique wearable art.
This class is suitable for all levels. Whether your child is a beginner or preparing a portfolio for GCSE or A-level art, they’ll benefit from personalised instruction that develops skills, creativity, and confidence.
What Kids & Teens Will Do
- Learn sashiko stitching and boro patching techniques
- Explore fun patterns (animals, fruits, stars, hearts, geometric designs)
- Patch and decorate denim, cotton, or sturdy t-shirts (no thin fabrics or polyester)
- Add texture and colour with authentic kimono scrap fabrics from Japan
- Create a personal piece of wearable art to take home
- Leave with their own needle and thread so they can keep stitching at home if they don’t finish in class
