Has the state of modern pyrotechnics got you down? The same old effegies of that one guy being set on fire not quite scratching the itch? Well remember remember the 5th of November and join Holly Moberley, along with host Em Pritchard and friends, for a night of music and poetry to launch her debut pamphlet 'Kinder Parasites'.

Praise for 'Kinder Parasites'

'Kinder Parasites' by Holly Moberley is a maximalist and genre-slipping debut that hijacks contemporary idioms, internet detritus and pop-cultural flotsam to stage a queer hyper-literate theatre of idenity and desire. - Aaron Kent, Broken Sleep Books

In 'Kinder Parasites', exclamation marks become totems, pages become playgrounds for structural invention, and poetry is a vessel that excavates what it means to be a queer woman making sense of herself in a world pulling her in every direction. Once read, these poems will live in your body forever." - Malaika Kegode, award-winning writer, performer and director

Meet the Artists

Holly Moberley (she/they) is a queer poet and poison berry from the South East. She is a Poetry Society Young Critic and has been published in fourteen poems, Bi+Lines, Butcher's Dog & the North. She is currently touring a sea shanty show on Resusci Anne and the drowning girl motif. Avoidantly confronting, delightfully despicable, Holly's poetry welcomes readers into the dark dark forest of tumblr pages for hands and lesbians in the US cabinet. 'Kinder Parasites' will be published on October 31st by Broken Sleep Books.

Em Pritchard (they/them) is a poet and roller derby devotee from Oxford. They have performed in the BBC Fringe Slam, the Roundhouse Slam and are a member of The Writing Squad. Em has a masters in Poetry and Poetics from the University of York, where they wrote about Elizabeth Bishop's butch poetics and the queer trees of Frank O'Hara.

Grace Copeland (she/her) is a poet, seaglass enthusiast and trainee speech therapist from Sunderland. Having recently graduated from Oxford's MSt in Creative Writing, she is currently working on her first collection which aims to create a modern mythology of the North East, wrought in the region's musical language. Her poems have been shortlisted for the Rialto Poetry and Place Competition and published by Written Off and The Poetry Society.

Stephen Elliot (he/him) is a Belfast-born bookseller, singer-songwriter and poet based in Oxford. Known for his intimate performances of sparse, folk-inflected songs that balance storytelling with intricate finger-style guitar. This will also be a rare opportunity to encounter his poetry, orbiting gender, sexuality and the everyday.
