"A weekend of awesome narrative and amazing Horus Heresy gaming"
About this event
Into the Spider's nest...
After the atrocities in the Ny’Drinah sectors, loyalist forces witnessing the creation of the ‘Refugee’s Wail’ in the neighbouring Aultarum system realise that the catastrophic destruction has been preceded by the presence of the Fidelitas Ego, the personal vessel of the former Biologis, Arch-Heretec Hektor Dhur, the Mechanicum contingent now believes he may be an Empyric Engineer utilising the works of Abraxes to further the traitor war effort. Following his escape from the wastes of Incunabula, loyalist forces have intercepted and boarded his ship in an attempt to learn more of Dhur’s usefulness to the Warmaster. Other forces have moved ahead of the ship to lay waste to any possible support for the fallen Magos along the ship’s projected route to Urdesh. However an, as yet unidentified, Gloriana class vessel has translated in system relaying orders that all those loyal to the Warmaster should redouble their efforts and ensure the safe passage of the Fidelitas Ego to the Urdesh system under threat of extreme censure.
Players need a list for the event which will be one half of the collective force played by each 'team' (see players pack for more details). Loyalist players need a 1250pt Zone Mortalis Attacker list each for the event. Traitor players will need a 1350pt Zone Mortalis Defender list each for the event. Players may also select units with the Repel Boarders special rule from The Great Crusade Book 3 - Compliance alongside their normal list selections.
The site car park is a short walk from the venue (there is no parking outside the hall itself) the cost of this in approx. £2.50 for a day, there are two machines for payment on the site, both accept contactless payment, one is situated in the car park and the other outside the coffee shop. The coffee shop is seasonal and may or may not be open during the event – they carry a small selection of snacks and drinks when open.
Players will need to park in the carpark and walk to the venue – however if you do require the facility to ‘drop off’ any items this can be arranged on the day if required. Please let us know.
As the closest shop/off license is a short drive away we would recommend that players bring with them anything they would want during the event such as refreshments and snacks.
The weekend will consist of five doubles games of Age of Darkness, each of which, you will have two and a half hours to play that round.
Games will be played on a 4’x4’ board and each team will choose which opposing team they play against with the event map system in place.
Each game will be played using the Age of Darkness Missions found in the Forge World Horus Heresy: Age of Darkness rule book. For this event optional FOCs, Super Heavy detachments and Relics are unavailable due to the nature of the warzones being fought in - but still bear in mind that your opponents will be grading your army list selection based on how much fun it is to play against.
As part of the weekends games you will be presented with a custom character progression system - which will be in play across all five games of the weekend (and is a continuation from previous Cataclysm of Iron events). This gives you the opportunity to take a non-unique/un-named model with the ‘independent character’ special rule and create evocative stories through both their successes and their failures.
This is a FUN narrative gaming weekend, where you are encouraged to leave tournament lists at home and instead focus on the game as telling a story rather than checking off another victory. The games will be objective based and have an impact on who is crowned champion - however you're investment in the wider hobby has much more of an influence on whether you are declared champion than simply winning games.
The event will use a unique character development system devised for King Fluff events (see player pack for more details).

HERETEK'S HEADSMAN / SAVIOUR OF NY'DRINAH
This event is part of a much wider campaign which will ultimately pit Imperium, Traitor and Xenos forces against each other in the cauldron of war, however for this battle there must be warriors who stand on the shoulders of giants.
We will be using a scoring system which will reward the brave and the bold with points in order for their team to hopefully be crowned as either the Heretek's Headsmen or the Saviours of Ny’Drinah.
After each game, each team will grade their opponents based on a set of criteria. This figure will then be multiplied by the number of victory points scored by the players. The criteria will cover sportsmanship, army composition, quality of painting etc. So it is important to note that even though we are asking for fully painted armies, which are based, it is worth putting in extra effort to gain more points at the event.
