RE-SCHEDULED DATE "Awesome narrative and amazing gaming"

About this event

After the conquest of Terra during the Unification Wars and the subsequent alliance established with Mars, the Great Crusade could begin in earnest and the rest of the solar system was the first region of space to be conquered by the Emperor and his newly rearmed and re-equipped Space Marine Legions. Alien invaders were flushed from the moons of Saturn and Jupiter and their wretched enslaved human inhabitants repatriated to Earth, the once-human creatures of the Neptunian Deeps were exterminated without mercy, and the baleful false-world of Sedna at Sol’s edge-light was boiled away to vapour under the guns of the new-forged war fleet. The next step was beyond. The Great Crusade was a mammoth operation on an inconceivable scale and complexity, involving billions of troops and tens of thousands of ships, and it is perhaps true that only a mind such as the Emperor’s could have had a hope of successfully comprehending and executing it. Tens of thousands of human worlds needed to be saved and as many more alien or otherwise hazardous worlds ravaged if the great ‘Pax Imperialis’, the Imperial Peace, was to be brought into being across the galaxy.

Players need a 1000pt or 1500pt army taken from any Imperial faction from any Age of Darkness publication and a 1000pt or 1500pt army taken from any of the three Great Crusade books written by King Fluff for the event (see event pack for further details).

The site car park is a short walk from the venue (there is no parking outside the hall itself) the cost of this in approx. £2.50 for a day, there are two machines for payment on the site, both accept contactless payment, one is situated in the car park and the other outside the coffee shop. The coffee shop is seasonal and may or may not be open during the event – they carry a small selection of snacks and drinks when open.

Players will need to park in the carpark and walk to the venue – however if you do require the facility to ‘drop off’ any items this can be arranged on the day if required. Please let us know.

As the closest shop/off license is a short drive away we would recommend that players bring with them anything they would want during the event such as refreshments and snacks.

The weekend will consist of five games of Age of Darkness, each of which, you will have an allotted time to play that round.

Games will be played on a 4'x4' or 6’x4’ board and you will be matched against random players (in the unlikely event of a repeat match up please let the organiser know as quickly as possible so that we can sort out a replacement player for you where possible).

Each game will be played using the Age of Darkness Missions found in the Forge World Horus Heresy Age of Darkness Rule Book. A specific Force Organisation Chart (found in The Great Crusade Book 2 - Conflict) will be used for the event, but all other normal considerations and restrictions will be in play. Some games may be fought in Zone Mortalis conditions so please bear this in mind when selecting your force.

In the event of being able to run game 3 as a doubles game, at the start of the game the four players selected to play on each table will remove a counter each from a blind bag. Depending on which counter is drawn each player will either use their Imperial or Xenos force for the game. This may lead to unusual match ups so for this event we will be using the Age of the Emperor allies chart found in The Great Crusade Book 2 - Conflict.

This is a FUN narrative gaming weekend, where you are encouraged to leave tournament lists at home and instead focus on the game as telling a story rather than checking off another victory. The games will be objective based and have an impact on who is crowned champion - however you're investment in the wider hobby has much more of an influence on whether you are declared champion than simply winning games.

The event will use a unique character development system devised for King Fluff events (see player pack for more details).

SCHEDULE TO FOLLOW SHORTLY

May The Hobby Be The Winner.

This event is part of a much wider campaign which will ultimately pit Imperium, Human and Xenos forces against each other in the cauldron of war, however for this battle there must be those who stand on the shoulders of giants.

For this event we will be keeping track of each factions success and failures in order to establish a strong narrative for subsequent events.

Ultimately we will be celebrating those individuals who go above and beyond when crafting their forces for Xenocide, these are the individuals who will reap the rewards of their labours. We will be placing a lot more emphasis on the modelling and painting awards at this event.

We would hope that all our events are well subscribed and that many people would like to share a day or weekend gaming with us, however this may not always be the case. As you can imagine laying on an event is a costly affair and we re-invest all ticket revenue into our events. In the event that we have a low up take for tickets we will look at ways of ensuring the event runs but this may mean that we need to change details such as the venue etc. where this is the case it will be done with players in mind and will have as minimal an impact as possible.
