Event description

Description

We have great pleasure in inviting you to join us for the Dental Alumni Weekend 2020: two days of top quality continuing professional development alongside opportunities for alumni, staff and friends of the Faculty to get together to reminisce about the good old days and to look forward to the exciting days ahead.

Dental Alumni Weekend 2020 will begin on Friday 6 March with the John McLean Symposium featuring national and international speakers sharing their “20/20 take on Health” as well as the Hygienists’ and Therapists’ Specialist Section Meeting. These meetings will be followed by the SPS Staff and Alumni Drinks Reception and Annual Dental Dinner, hosted at the Hilton Tower Hotel, a stone’s throw from Guy’s Tower. This promises to be an exciting evening packed not only with the usual excellent meal, prize giving and raffle but also an auction offering the possibility for successful bidders to observe some acclaimed clinicians in UK dentistry at their practices. Entertainment will be provided by the sensational King’s Bhangra Dancers. The dress code is Black Tie (optional), with guests and partners warmly welcome to join us.

Dental Alumni Weekend continues with our Clinical Open Day on Saturday 7 March in Guy’s Tower. This year’s programme includes the Keynote lectures in memory of Professor Rod Cawson and Professor Walter Herbert, this year given by Rupert Austin and Koray Feran respectively. There will also be the opportunity to hear from our Executive Dean, Professor Mike Curtis on updates at the Dental Institute, tours of recently re-furbished clinical teaching facilities, as well as our ever-popular Hands-on Workshops. The Dental Alumni Association will also be holding its Annual General Meeting to which all alumni are invited.

Lunch will again be hosted by our Executive Dean, providing guests with an opportunity to meet Professor Curtis, whilst networking and socialising with fellow alumni and staff.

The Dinner provides a perfect opportunity for a class reunion table or tables, particularly those of you celebrating milestone anniversaries. The Alumni Office will be delighted to help and support your reunion and will provide special touches to ensure you have a night to remember. Simply e-mail reunions@kcl.ac.uk or call +44(0)20 7848 3053 to get the ball rolling.

The programme for the Dental Alumni Weekend is flexible; you can book for a single event or the whole weekend. Places are limited, so I would recommend booking soon to secure your place and avoid disappointment.

To find out more please see the full programme below. If you have any questions about the Hygienist's meeting and dinner, please contact forever@kcl.ac.uk

If you have any questions about the John McLean Symposium or the Clinical Open Day, please contact dentalalumni@kcl.ac.uk
