Event description

Description

While parts of the world population suffer from hunger, one third of the food intended for human consumption is being thrown away every year. 1.3 billion of tons of food is being fed to bins. At the same time, according to FAO, we only produce enough food to supply the world's growing population until 2050. It's clear we have a huge challenge in front of us.

Disco Soup's are a delicious solutions to food waste, where everyone is encouraged to chop, peel and bop to the beat to create a free feast, all out of food that would have otherwise been wasted. Volunteers will help to chop and peel surplus veg, to show how delicious meals can be made out of food that would otherwise have been thrown away. We will be using surplus food from Borough Market.

More information about waste week can be found on our website https://www.kcl.ac.uk/aboutkings/strategy/sustainability/news-events/reduce-waste-week.aspx
