Join us on Wednesday 24th September from 12.30-2.30 pm to kick start the season. We have a fabulous guest speaker attending - William English CBE

William is a British citizen (DoB 1962); born in Ashford, Kent, then raised in Kent. Following a 36-year full career in the British Army 1981-2017, William put himself through 7 years of planned business and professional [brewing & distilling] training. He attended Manchester Business School then went on to achieve CDir with the Institute of Directors (IoD) and CMgr with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) in 2018; awarded the IoD, Director of the Year, Family Business and runner-up in Innovation 2023 and Master of Science (Meritorious) in Brewing & Distilling at Heriot-Watt University in Dec 2024. William is currently in discussion with the University of Kent, regarding a PhD in Business supported by Science. Education is core to William’s pursuit of business excellence; William is professionally driven and seeks answers as to how professional in business can he truly become. Classically educated in strategy and operational planning, William’s leadership style is direct: Governance and Fiduciary Duty, always; compliant with the Rule of Law and Guided by Best Practice; LinkedIn stated: committed to the IoD Code of Conduct for Directors; Personal Values: Knowledge; Perseverance; Selfless. Myers Briggs Indication: ENTP (Intellectual/Visionary). Trained Diplomat.

William is Owner (generation 10) & Chair of his business, an Estate in transition from straight agriculture to a mix of commercial, residential, biodiversity, regenerative energy with brewing and distilling as its future core business. After qualifying as a CDir (2018), William served as an Independent Non-executive Director (INED) and Chair Strategic Planning and Oversight (SPO) Sub-committee, on the Board of OSTC Group, global derivatives trading company 2018-22. William has an American gene as a Mayflower descendant, he is Deputy Governor Society Mayflower Descendants (Europe), currently leading governance & structural transition. William is also a NED for the USA Delano Kindred Board with a Europe brief; Chair (elect) PPL, a UK Import / Export company of global sustainable farmed produce, and now INED GHD / Chair of the SPO Sub-committee, a Property and Land (agriculture) company in North Kent.

William is married to Frances (Fanny) (1989). Frances is the Registered Manager of the Royal British Legion Industries, Assisted Living facilities for Veterans, Aylesford, Kent. Frances and William have 3 children – Eleanor (30), Financial PR, London; Frederick (27), Captain in The King’s Royal Hussars and, Madeleine (26), Designer and Founder of a childrenswear brand, trading under the name: ‘Quincie Ginger’ https://quincieginger.squarespace.com/ . Frances is studying BA (Hons) Health & Social Care; she has a Cockerpoo with a crooked jaw but a winning smile. William was a mountaineer, horseman and desert explorer, a blackbelt in USMC Martial Arts Programme and maker of pâte sablée to die for! William now swims for exercise.

You will also be treated to a lovely buffet lunch, tea, coffee and juice. (Other drinks can be purchased at the bar).

This event is designed to be casual, enjoyable and active - perfect for building relationships
