Event description

Description

Landlords in Irish history are infamous, ever wondered about Kinsale’s? Who owned the town? Did they own lots or little? Where did they come from? How did they get it? How long did they have it? How did they lose it? Who took over from them? How valuable was it? Why are there so many fine old buildings? So many Georgian buildings, why?
If you’ve ever looked at any of our old, fine, houses in the town and wondered about them, then this might be of interest to you!

Nial Stewart will be giving a brief history of the major landlords of the town from around 1200 until 1930 in Kinsale Yacht Club, Lower O’Connell Street, Kinsale on Saturday 20th July at 2.30pm.

Normans, Old English, New English, Germans (!), Irish, and institutions – Nial will give you a view of the larger owners in Kinsale. His talk will include his most recent findings from archival research.

This event is free & no booking is necessary.
Kindly sponsored by Kinsale Dental.
