About this Event

Kirbye Voices is an established choir drawn from the Bury St Edmunds area where it is based which specialises in unaccompanied choral music

Kirbye Voices is proud to be named after the madrigal composer George Kirbye, who lived and worked in Bury. and who most notably contributed to Morley's Triumphs of Oriana in 1601. Kirbye is buried in St Mary's Church, Bury where he was Churchwarden.

Its repertoire is wide and varied, equally at home singing Byrd, Handel & Howells as Elgar, Sullivan & close harmonies in King's Singers arrangements!

Kirbye's recent visits have included our 'home' Cathedral in St Edmundsbury, Ely, Norwich, Canterbury, Coventry and Chelmsford. We have also had the distinction of singing in St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, and our Tribute to Thomas Tallis programme at Waltham Abbey, where in 1540, he was Organist.
