Course Description:

This one day course is part of our multi-agency training programme for professionals working with young people in Kirklees to develop their skills and knowledge in respect of sexual health.

PLEASE NOTE: You need to attend the Sexual Health Awareness Level 1 course, which includes safeguarding, sex and young people, before you book onto C-card Training

Course Aim:

To enable participants to obtain information about the C-Card Scheme, and to provide role clarification and sexual health information to enable them to successfully implement the C-Card scheme in their location.

Intended for:

Those Kirklees professionals who already do face-to-face work with young people and wish to deliver the Kirklees C-Card Scheme within their organisation including the registration of young people onto the C-Card scheme.

Objectives:

  1. Develop understanding of Kirklees C-Card Scheme processes

  2. To have the confidence and skill to successfully register young people onto the C-Card scheme.

  3. Increase their awareness of the types and variety of condoms, dams, femidoms, lube and other resources available through the scheme

  4. Acquire relevant information about Chlamydia + how to effectively complete the screening process

  5. Further develop skills to sensitively engage young people in sexual health interventions

  6. Raise awareness of some of the complex issues that young people may have with regards to their sexual health

  7. Increase knowledge of specialist sexual health services, and be able to signpost young people to them


Other Useful Information:

This course will be held in Seminar Rooms 1 and 2 on the Ground Floor of the Health Centre.

Refreshments: Please note that lunch is NOT provided. Tea and coffee will be provided in the morning and afternoon breaks. There are plenty of cafes/ sandwich shops in the town, as well as a large Asda close to the Dewsbury Health Centre. You are also welcome to bring your own lunch with you.

Parking: This is a town centre location. There is a small pay & display car park at the rear of the Health Centre. There are also several pay & display car parks within walking distance. Being in the town centre there are excellent public transport links.

RHSE 2 day course: Please note that the RSHE courses are 2 day courses. Please check the dates carefully to ensure that both parts of the course are in your diary. It is also a requirement that you attend the Introduction to Sexual Health (Level 1) course before attending the RSHE course. This is available to book through Eventbrite.

We aim to start courses promptly at the time given. Please aim to arrive for 9am ready for a 9:30am start

Failure to remain until the end will result in you not being issued with a certificate. We would therefore suggest that, in the event you cannot stay for the full duration, you cancel your place and apply for an alternative date.

Agencies or individuals who persistently fail to attend training courses or notify less than 48 hours before the start of the course, may be excluded from future training courses or events.
