What are the tensions between the African Diaspora and the people who are connected to the African continent?
About this event
This event is part of the Worldmaking Beyond SOAS: Unlocking A Racially Just World Conference
In partnership with SOAS and LIFT (the London International Festival of Theatre), The Nest explore current engagement with pan-Africanisms across seas and borders through a series of inquiries called the "Kitchen Conversations".
Mars Maasai and Njoki Ngumi worked with SOAS student Nomfundo Dlamini to explore what connections Black SOAS students of African, Caribbean, Black British, and related self-identifications have to pan-Africanism and black unity.
In this panel, they discuss the findings from these inquiries, and potential ways forward to deepen solutions for the ongoing yearning for active community.
Moderated by Elizabeth Maina - cultural researcher, strategist and programme designer, with experience building international networks and a deep interest in the culture of black connection.
