Artist Caroline Jones runs a kite-making workshop using only plastic bags and drawing inspiration from the Arabic shapes within Leighton House Museum. Caroline teaches a technique of weaving plastic bags to create beautiful, colourful kites incorporating messages of hope for the future. The workshop will culminate in a kite-flying marathon at the gardens of the museum, weather permitting.
Workshop for children aged 8 to12 years. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
About the Artist
Caroline Jones works extensively in Australia and London as a designer of large and small scale theatre, events and carnival, collaborating with The National Theatre, the Roundhouse, The Lord Mayor’s parade and many more. She is experienced at devising creative educational projects for young and old alike, and works with recycled materials as transformative raw material, creating textiles, costumes and all manner of useful and beautiful things.
