We’re rounding off Writeidea 2019 with a performance from Klezmer Klub. Klezmer is, at its heart, dance music, wedding music, both wild and tender. Often described as bitter-sweet, it came out of poverty and oppression. Both dances and song contain joy, exhilaration and wit alongside the sadness, anger and defiance. A Klezmer Klub gig typically sees the audience joining in with both singing and dancing, the traditional dance steps being taught by Vivi Lachs in a simple, direct fashion that get everyone involved.
