About this event

King's Norton Boys' School Open Evening

for prospective Year 6 students

5th October 2021

We have carefully considered whether we can run an open event this year, and we are pleased to announce that we will be running face-to-face guided tours of the school site from 4pm on 5th October 2021.

About our guided tours:

Each person (parents and children) attending must book a ticket, with each family being limited to 3 tickets (e.g., 1 child and 2 parents). However, we would encourage that each Year 6 child is accompanied by only 1 parent to help reduce the number of visitors.

Using a booking system is one of our key measures for minimising risk during these difficult times. This limits the number of people in the school building at one time and allows us to manage your visit more safely. Please stick to your allotted appointment time once you have booked it, and if there are any problems, please get in touch.

We are also making adaptations to our usual Open Evening Events. For example, communal events (like the Headteacher's and Student Presentations) will be moved on-line. This will enable us to limit the number of contacts that visitors make.

Your ticket is for a guided tour of the school site, so we can safely guide your tour group (of approx. 15 people) around and control the number of children and adults in each area. Please note that not all rooms will be open as this will help to avoid bottle necks and dead ends. Staff will also be available at each 'stop off' to talk to you and staff and students will show you around, answering your questions as they go.

It is important that we keep our school community safe, so we ask you to be able to provide either:

• proof of vaccination - both doses received, with the second at least 14 days prior to the Open Evening

• proof of a negative NHS Lateral Flow Test - taken within 48 hours of your arrival at Open Evening

• proof of natural immunity - based upon a positive PCR test within 180 days of Open Evening, including 10 days of self-isolation after the result.

Sample Covid status checks of at least one family per tour will take place as you arrive for your allocated appointment time. Please note that this is not a ‘Covid Passport’. If you have not had the vaccine, then you can take a free test, available to pick up from supermarkets or chemists. No-one is excluded, and we are happy to answer any questions you may have.

If you are proving your COVID status using a free NHS lateral flow test, this must be taken before arriving at Open Evening and the results registered, with confirmation of result shown via email or text. We are not testing at the school gates. Year 6 students do not need to prove their Covid status to gain entry to Open Evening.

Government guidance now states that wearing a face mask is a matter of personal choice. You are free to wear a face mask at Open Evening, and hand sanitiser is readily available at the entrance to each classroom.
