Have fun creating beautiful knitwear. Emphasis is on colour and form. You will explore the use of knit stitches and construction techniques.

Adult. Beginner to intermediate.

Equipment provided:

Some Yarns, needles to try.

(you may bring your own equipment and yarn if you wish)

Needles initially required are 5mm, 100cm or 120cm cord, circular needles with a smooth join. (Chiagoo, Hiya Hiya or Addi recommended) Other size needles may be required according to yarn. Yarn should be a DK weight.

Sessions details

Four weeks will cover all the techniques below. You may attend all or one but at least two classes are recommended to finish a project.

Introduction – Coffee plus session overview.

Inspirations.

Fashion and knitwear. Socks, Scarves, Hats, Mittens, Jumper/Cardigan, Childrens Knits, Pet knits, Soft Toys etc

Gauge and tension.

Colour palette. Yarn selection.

Techniques and knitting.

Creating fabric from yarn.

Knitting on circular needles.

Comfortable cast on. Provisional cast on.

Creating texture.

Stitch Techniques. Plain, purl, moss stitch, lace, cable, other stitches.

Edges.

Casting off.

Finishing techniques.
