Knockburn Loch: Adult Open Water Come and Try, Scottish Swimming Swim Series

Come and Try Open Water at Knockburn Sports Loch is a 1.2 hour session aimed at those adults who can swim but have never made the transition from pool to the open water. It is also for those who have experience in open water and would benefit from a little reminder and a confidence boost. While experiencing the great facilities at Knockburn, come along and join like-minded swimmers and be taught by experienced coaches at the great venue near Banchory.
The session will focus on:
- Wetsuit advice
- Combating those Open Water anxieties and race day nerves
- Acclimatisation and feel for the water
- Open water skills, including sighting and drafting and navigating buoys
- Mass starts and skills practice
- Breathing effectively in open water for maximum performance
- Question and answer session
Each coaching group will have a maximum coach/swimmer ratio of 1-12.
Requirements: Swimmers must be aged 16 years and over and must be capable of swimming 200m.
Wetsuits: are compulsory. If you need to hire a wetsuit on the day, please choose your size in the checkout process. Hire will be £15.00 to be paid in cash on the day of hire.
Timing: Arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your session. There are showers and changing facilities available at Knockburn Loch.
Location: Knockburn Loch, Kincardineshire, AB31 6LL.
Cafe: There is a cafe on site which is open for hot drinks and food throughout the day.
