Why attend?

Too many business owners only speak to their accountant once a year – usually when the tax bill arrives. By then, it’s too late to make changes that could save money or boost profits.

This workshop is designed to change that. In just one day, you’ll learn the key skills and tools you need to take control of your business finances and put more money back in your pocket.

You’ll discover how to:

  • Read and understand your financial statements (without the jargon)
  • Build a budget that actually works for your business
  • Set goals and action plans you’ll stick to
  • Master your cash flow so there are no nasty surprises
  • Ask the right questions of your accountant to save money and make better decisions
  • Leave with practical tax tips and a tailored action plan based on your own numbers

Plus, you’ll take away exclusive tools you can use immediately to track, plan, and grow your business with confidence.

What to Bring

This is a practical, hands-on session where you’ll be working on your own business numbers. Please bring:

  • Your laptop (with Excel or Google Sheets installed)
  • Your most recent accounts or financial information (P&L, cash flow, balance sheet – even if it’s just from your accounting software or a spreadsheet)

If you don’t have structured financial information, don’t worry. Bring what you do have – even if it’s a list of expenses, bank statements, or rough spreadsheets. We’ll work with what’s available and make sure it’s useful for you.

  • An open mind and readiness to put learning into action during the day

Additional Information

  • Excellent transport links – just minutes from Euston, Euston Square and King’s Cross stations
  • Refreshments provided throughout the day
  • Lunch is not included, but the hotel and surrounding area have plenty of options
  • Please let us know in advance if you have any allergies or dietary requirements so we can make sure refreshments are suitable

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be “good with numbers”?

Not at all. This course is designed for non-finance business owners. Everything is explained simply and practically.

I already have an accountant – is this still relevant?

Yes. In fact, you’ll learn the questions to ask your accountant that could save you money and help them serve you better.

My accounts aren’t up to date – will it still be useful?

Absolutely. Bring whatever information you have. The session will help you make sense of your numbers, however complete (or incomplete) they are.

Will I get time to work on my own business?

Yes. This is not theory – you’ll apply everything to your own numbers so you leave with a personalised action plan.
