Know your Rights at Work - training for Migrants
As current UK immigration policy has become more complex and hostile towards migrants and anti-immigration rhetoric increases the Migrants' Rights Network (MRN) and Arhag Housing Association (AHA) have teamed up to run this workshop to help residents and staff understand more about migrants’ rights in employment.
With 1/3 of London’s population being born outside the UK, and in the context of Brexit, the potential for migrants to become victims of labour exploitation by unscrupulous employers is now greater than ever.
The workshop will cover:
- Hours of work and holidays
- Zero hours contracts
- Payslips, National minimum wage
- Hazardous working conditions
- Networks of support
Access to the building is by online registration ONLY!
Ake Achi - right2workuk
Ake is a full time trade union official and launched the right2work campaign which aims to raise awareness on the impact of the UK Immigration law and post-Brexit immigration policy on migrant workers. Ake argues that immigration law has become a new lever for labour exploitation and the system which is designed by the Government to tackle labour exploitation is actually shafting migrant workers into the hands of gangmasters.
