Hear and Now: Dr Paul Whittaker OBE
Dr Paul Whittaker OBE is the Artistic Director of Music and the Deaf, a Huddersfield based charity that supports deaf children and encourages them to become involved in music and the arts. Deaf from birth, Paul is a music graduate of Oxford University and the Royal Northern College of Music. Over the past 20 years he has worked as a theatre interpreter, signing for West End shows such as Joseph, Les Mis, Phantom and Cats and in 2010 he gave the first ever signed performance of the BBC Proms. In 2007 Paul was awarded an OBE for Services to Music recognising his tireless work to bring musical experiences to people with hearing loss.
In this special Knowledge Sandwich, we are honoured to have Paul share his unique perspective on communication, music, sign language and deaf awareness.
