Knowsley Council Celebrates Black History Month – Standing Firm in Power and Pride
Black History Month (BHM) is an annual celebration of the history, heritage, and culture of people of African and Caribbean descent. It takes place in October each year and is a time to recognise and honour the achievements and contributions of Black people to the UK.
To mark Black History Month, Knowsley Council's United in Diversity Network in partnership with the LCR Race Equality Hub will team up with the Invest Knowsley Business Growth Team, to host an entrepreneurship event on the 15 October 2025 at the Shakespeare North Playhouse. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Upon arrival, delegates will be greeted by a vibrant Capoeira for All performance, as the rhythmic beat of drums echoes from the Shakespeare North Playhouse.
The event will commence with an opening address by Cllr Graham Morgan, the Leader of Knowsley Council. Delegates will then hear speeches from the LCR Race Equality Hub, Liverpool John Moores University, and conclude with a Keynote speech from a Knowsley based black business leader.
As the event draws to a close, delegates will be treated to delicious food, while a lively marketplace celebrates and showcases a variety of local, Black-led businesses.
