Course Description:

This Krav Maga self defence course is designed for students who have a resonable level of fitness. It is a course primarily designed for beginners in Krav Maga to help become aware of and avoid potential dangers. Avoidance and de-escalation is the first phase in our self defence training.

We only use the second phase if there is no other option, why? Because the only way to overcome/defeat a violent attack is to be more violent than the attacker. We become the aggressors, the person/s who tried to attack us become the victim/s.

The seminar specifically covers techniques against unarmed attackers. The techniques taught in the class are taken primarily from Krav Maga. Other martial arts/combat systems we use include; Boxing, Jiu Jitsu, Judo, Thai Boxing, Kick boxing.

Academically, the course covers topics including; The ‘mindset’ of a violent attacker, Ways to de-escalate and/or avoid confrontation, Being ‘street smart’, and confident. You are not a victim. It is a known fact that street muggers target what they percieve to be “easy prey.”

Course Goals:

This course’s primary goals are to empower participants with the confidence and awarness whilst on the street so that potential attackers do not view them as a “target” The course willl also get the participants to be able to use (only if required) the basic techniques of Krav Maga. Additionally, our goal is to get participants to a proficient level of how to use street self-defence techniques with aggression and confidence. We will encourage participants to continue training in Krav Maga self defence. Our final goal is to increase the physical fitness levels of the students.

Course Schedule- 1 day ( 3 hours)

Introduction to Krav Maga/ Street self defence basics

  • Understanding the ‘mindset’ of violent attackers
  • Staying safe ‘on the street’
  • ‘Safe space’ street self defence techniques
  • Footwork drills
  • Correct punching techniques
  • Correct kicking techniques
  • Partner Focus pad drills/Kick pad drills
  • Low level and high level wrist grab defences
  • 360 Defence/Counter defence drills
  • Groin/knee strikes/defences
  • Multiple attacker drills/Stress inoculation drills/light sparring
  • Building aggressive mindset. Defender cannot be indecisive. Drills and scenarios on how to develop this


Recommended equipment:

Boxing gloves, groin guard, shin guards, gum shield.

Dress comfortably during the session (e.g. workout clothing). No jewellery should be worn during sessions, fingernails should be kept short, hair tied back, etc.


Health conditions:

Students are strongly advised to make known to the instructor any health conditions that could be exacerbated by exercising. For example, heart conditions, diabetes, joint or spinal injuries and pregnancy should always be discussed with your instructor. Additionally, if students are currently under a doctor’s care they should advise him or her of their participation in this class and find out if they are limited in any way.
