Event Details

Join us for a rare opportunity to hear from Kristen Roupenian, author of the short story Cat Person.

The New Yorker published Cat Person in December 2017, shortly after the first #MeToo allegations came to light, and it became an immediate sensation - particularly among millenials, who lauded its candid exploration of modern dating and sexual politics. It also “launched a thousand theories”, becoming the subject of intense analysis and criticism, and it was one of the New Yorker’s most read pieces that year.

Shortly after the publication of Cat Person, Roupenian signed a seven-figure US deal for her debut story collection, You Know You Want This. Touching on the connections between sex, punishment, guilt and pain, this funny and explicit collection explores the messed-up power dynamic between men and women.

Roupenian will be talking about her exciting new collection with Guardian columnist and features writer Hadley Freeman.

Tickets to this event are £18 or £28 with a copy of You Know You Want This (RRP £12.99).

Running time: 90 minutes, no interval.
