Once students learn that chemical reactions happen, the next step is developing an understanding that some react more readily than others.

This building block leads us to ask questions why, which are unpicked further in KS4. Developing solid foundational knowledge in this area is key, as a superficial understanding can act as a barrier to fundamental concepts studied in KS4.
