Much emphasis is placed on the role of academies in preparing students for their futures. However, evidence shows that students are still facing significant skills gaps when transitioning to the workplace, apprenticeships or university. Students experiencing disadvantage are at particular risk of unsuccessful transitions to universities and apprenticeship programmes.

This inset brings together experts from universities and industry to explore how to build essential skills in communication, self-management and collaboration.
