About this event

Where are we going :

If you are not going to the Carnival this Sunday, and still want to enjoy the vibes, why not join our carnival ride? We will be doing Lesney Woods.

Where will we start from:

Catford : The route starts at the car park, entrance of Laurence House, SE6 4SW 8am

The Route:

Wear your colours and bring your vibe, as we ride like Royalty. We cycle from Catford and head for Blackheath, we will take a side entrance out at Maze Hill and down Vanburgh Hill. We will pick up Blackwall Lane and go over the bike /pedestrian bike path, before heading for the Millenium Way and cycling towards the Thames Path. We will travel on Thames path, cycling towards Crossness (We may have some bonus views...sshhhh!) and then on to Crossway Park, before heading to Lesney Woods. We will take a break, enjoy the views and ruins before we head for Abbey Woods station. We will then catch the Elizabeth Line to Custom House. At Custom House we will take a short cycle to catch the bike bus back to Millenium Way. Then we then head back to Catford where the ride will end.

Who are we:

We ride as a group of people, mainly from a African and African Caribbean background and as cyclists we ride together regularly, often with a structured schedule and we have varying levels of abilities.

We usually aim to start when the weather is improving March/April, with easier local rides to start the year off, and we increase the distance and go further afield, until November or December (if we are really lucky), and we have been riding together since November 2020.

Who is the ride for:

The ride is for adults only and we have a mixed ability within the group. We welcome new riders. On some of our rides, there is likely to be at least one hill, but we try to avoid them where possible. We will wait, if you can't make it all the way to the top without stopping and we are a supportive group.

NB: If you find that you are unable to attend after you have booked, please cancel your ticket at least 24 hours before the event, so that it can be offered to someone else.

If you would like to join the whatsapp group, please ask me on one of the rides, and be prepared to committ to at least 6 rides annually, to remain in the group.

What should you bring:

Your bike and helmet, appropriate attire for riding and weather conditions, and a smile.

We ride as a group, but please cycle carefully, and abide by the rules of the road. Your safety will be at your own discretion.

Please come prepared with inflatable tyre and/or pump.

Light fruits/snacks and water according to your preference. A travel card/cash.
