About this event
Khyabje Kalu Rinpoche is recognised by H.H. the Dalai Lama and H.H. the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa as the Lineage Holder of Shangpa Kagyu. He is believed by Tibetan Buddhists to be the incarnation of the Six-Armed Mahakala, the special protector of the Shangpa Kagyu tradition and will be in conversation with Alex Pettyfer at the Oxford Union on 3rd September.
Between January 2004 and September 2008 Kalu Rinpoche completed the Traditional Three Years Retreat and since 2008 he has looked after the International Shangpa Kagyu community and meditation centers, holding teachings and seminars. In recognition of the unique opportunity of this event, the Oxford Union is making the event free to all, including members of the public, Union members, and students, during our Open Period.
This in-person event is on a first-come, first-served basis. If you would like to attend this event, you will need to queue outside the Oxford Union building gates on St Michaels Street. Entrance into the chamber will begin 30-45 minutes before the start of the event. Entrance will not be possible through the bar, thus queuing outside the gate is mandatory and will be strictly enforced by security.
