Kyrie Farm - online discussion
Kyrie Farm is a new therapeutic initiative that will open in Ireland in 2026. It is based on a vision by the McKeon family after the loss of their son and brother. Based on the concept of therapeutic farms such as Gould Farm, founded in 1913 and Hopewell Farm, founded in 1993, the aim is to create a healing environment for people experiencing mental health challenges and support them to move toward recovery, health, and greater independence. The farm will employ a recovery-oriented, rights-based, and person-centered approach, offering a range of mental health interventions and holistic therapies. Created with the support of a lived experience panel, the farm has been developed to honour and value lived experience.
Peter Kinderman is a professor of Clinical Psychology, and has worked at the universities of Liverpool and Manchester, is a Clinical Psychologist in independent practice and a member of the Board of Directors of Kyrie Farm. He will talk about the farm's development, its principles and the hopes that the team at Kyrie farm hold for a more therapeutic and healing environment for people suffering deep mental distress. There will also be time for discussion.
