Description

This popular cycle about the Giovane Scuola opened with Puccini’s “La Rondine” and “Madama Butterfly”, to highlight the influence of Naturalism and exoticism on this operatic movement flourished in Italy during the last decades of the nineteenth century.
The Italian Cultural Institute now wishes to deepen some further aspects of the outstanding Tuscan composer by featuring a masterpiece which is considered undisputedly as one of the towering and paradigmatic achievements of the Giovane Scuola because of its astonishing musical innovations and its intense “melodramatic” taste.
