Proceeds will go towards Hostage International’s essential work in providing specialist support for those affected by kidnappings and arbitrary detentions. The charity’s patrons Jude Tebbutt and John McCarthy CBE will be joining us on the night to introduce the evening.

If weather permits and you would like to explore the gardens from 5.30pm, you will be able purchase special reduced entry to Denmans Garden of £5 per person, payable at entry on the evening only, with the entry fee donated by Denmans to Hostage International.

We hope that you will understand that we will not be giving any refunds due to this being a fundraising evening to support the work of Hostage International.

Thank you to Denmans Gardens, City Music Services and our generous sponsors.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an interval?

Yes, an interval of around 20 minutes

Is there disability access?

Yes, please ask at the door on the evening for assistance if required.

Is it possible to come early to look around the gardens at Denmans?

Yes. If it is not raining on the evening, you are welcome to arrive from 5.30pm and pay an extra £5 to explore the gardens prior to the Opera starting at 7pm. This £5 will be generously donated by Denmans to Hostage International.

What should I wear?

Smart casual attire please and comfortable shoes if you'd like to visit the garden first!

Will there be refreshments?

There will be an opportunity to purchase drinks and bar snacks before the show and during the interval. However, due to the café being turned into the theatre space there will be extremely limited table seating.

Is the performance outdoors?

No, it is inside in Denman Garden's beautiful conservatory cafe which will be converted into a mini opera space for the evening. It will be an intimate salon-style event with the opera accompanied by a pianist.

Is the cost of my ticket eligible for Gift Aid?

Sadly, the rules for Gift Aid on an event such as this is that you are purchasing your ticket in return for a performance. However, if you are a UK tax payer, any further donation that you give on top of the ticket price will be eligible for Gift Aid.

Why is the ticket advertised as £25 but is costing £27.80?

In order for Hostage International to benefit from the full profit from each ticket sale of £25, we have passed the £2.80 Eventbrite platform fees onto the ticket price. Thank you for your support.
