About this Event

IMSE Webinar Series

Wearable Technologies

The challenge that will be discussed in this session is:

Lab-on-a-chip Devices for Effortless Health Monitoring

Join us for this informal webinar with Rosalia Moreddu. There will be an opportunity for question and answer after the presentation. To join this webinar you must register in advance and you will be emailed the joining instructions for the webinar.

Abstract

This talk will introduce multiple health monitoring technologies: from fitness watches and smart clothing to continuous glucose monitors (CGM) and functional tattoos. It will further focus on the use of easily accessible body fluids - urine and tears - in the development of minimally-invasive healthcare devices.

In this context, smart contact lenses and portable urine monitors will be discussed.

Biography

Rosalia Moreddu

PhD Student, Department of Chemical Engineering

Ms. Moreddu received her B.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering from University of Cagliari in 2013. She obtained her M.Sc. in Nanotechnology from Polytechnic of Turin, in a joint program with Grenoble Institute of Technology and École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. During her master thesis, she focused on the development of microfluidic scintillation detectors at CERN. Her research interests are in contact lens sensors and lab-on-a-chip devices for biosensing and point-of-care diagnostics.
