Event description

Description

The EODF and ODNE invite practitioners of organisation design and organisation development to this half day, generously hosted at John Lewis Head Office.

At the event practitioners will get to co-consult to a small group of ‘clients’. These ‘clients’ will be people from organisations and businesses willing to bring their challenges to the group, and allow us to work with them. In a parallel inquiry, they will give us feedback on both their experiences of working with practitioners of many hues, and at the end of the day, they will also feedback on their experience of us in the ‘here and now’. A light lunch and refreshments will be provided and the day will be followed by much needed drinks and a chance to connect more socially.

So far we have 'clients' from Jaguar Land Rover, Johnson Matthey, Yorkshire Building Society and Royal Bank of Scotland, more will be announced in the coming weeks. Check out their bios below:

Davy Price-Stephens has over 18 years Organisation Design experience - before joining JLR as an HR Director, he was a partner at PwC where he led their global Organisation Design team, with experience working across a number of different industries, including Financial Services. His pragmatic approach to OD is based on understanding the organisational implications of strategy and defining the capabilities required by a business to execute against priorities more effectively and efficiently. He fundamentally believes that good design is grounded in generating insight from quantitative and qualitative data, facilitating a robust design process in a disciplined way and through excellence in stakeholder management and engagement. In a world where strategy is becoming more fluid, the pace of change is relentless and disruptive technology is reinventing work and the workplace, Davy believes that that clearly defined and effective organisation models are critical for success and building sustainable businesses.

Liz Barnes career began as a postdoctoral scientist and was followed by 17 years at Unilever where my main role was to lead science-based R&D projects and teams. I made several self-managed career transitions within Unilever completing professional HR qualifications and also began accredited coach training. I then joined Cranfield University as a learning and development consultant where I coached executives, leaders and entrepreneurs. After several years as an independent coach I joined Johnson Matthey in 2011 as Learning and Development Specialist in Clean Air Sector focusing on leadership development. As JM has evolved over the last few years, I transitioned into a Group Talent and L&D role focusing on JM wide strategic areas. This role means I have contact with a variety of practitioners and consultants, from different disciplines. From my
perspective now as someone who engages externals, the questions raised by this event are timely and relevant.

Spencer Lord is Senior Manager - Organisational Development for Yorkshire Building Society. Spencer has spent his entire career in OD, for the most part as a consultant partnering with organisations of all shapes and sizes across the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. Since joining YBS in 2014, he has built up the firm’s dedicated in-house OD capability and now leads a team with a remit including capabilities, culture, organisation design and performance development. Spencer has experienced the shift from external consultant to becoming a client procuring a range of consultancy, interim and technology support across a range of OD activities. This led to a change in perspective around aspects he had previously prioritised as an external.

Audrey Forrestor is passionate about working with individuals, teams and organisation to improve their performance. Audrey’s skills and experience have been developed as an OD specialist in corporate and management consulting roles and applies a combination of perspectives from organisational theory (Org Design, Development and Change), organisational dynamics, sector and business knowledge and consulting methodology in her work. Over the past 15 years Audrey has been working as an internal OD consultant on a variety of roles within the Royal Bank of Scotland Group, a financial services organisation that has experienced significant change over this period of time. Most recently, she has been part of the journey to establish a small team of internal Organisation Design specialists whose task has been to consult to the senior team in transforming the operating model and organisation structure to support recovery of the bank post the Financial crisis of 2008 and through significant regulatory reforms. Prior to RBS, Audrey was a senior consultant with Accenture working in both the private and public sector in the UK and overseas on significant business transformation programmes.

Finally this event will be facilitated by Steve Hearsum from ODN-Europe and Nick Richmond from EODF.
