Labour is one year into government — and yet their communication strategy still feels like it’s stuck in opposition. In the 1970s. Policies get lost in translation, big wins aren’t landing with the public, and too often the message is garbled, defensive, or just plain uninspiring.
In this fringe event, political commentators Graham Hughes (Politics Social) and Phil Moorhouse (A Different Bias) will cut through the noise to explain what’s gone wrong with Labour’s comms — and how it could be fixed. Expect sharp analysis, a dash of humour, and a refreshing honesty you won’t hear on the main conference stage.
We’ll cover:
- Why Labour’s messaging keeps missing the mark
- How simple shifts in tone and storytelling could transform their appeal
- What Labour could learn from successful campaigns past and present
- Practical fixes that could help the party actually connect with voters
After the talk, we’ll open the floor for a lively Q&A and pub-style discussion — a chance for Labour members, activists, and disillusioned supporters alike to share frustrations, swap ideas, and (just maybe) leave with some hope that the party can get this right.
