In association with the International Centre for Music Studies, Newcastle University, the Ladders Careers Day will offer an exciting selection of talks and specialist panels from key areas of creative industry in film/tv, software and music.

On the 27th March, a fantastic line-up of speakers will be presenting their backgrounds and experiences to support young people considering their next steps in creative careers. Come along to hear some inspirational stories, advice and guidance and visit specialist industry exhibition stands.

1pm - 2.30pm - Hear from a range of professionals in areas of short film, commercials, digital content for games, storyboarding, animation and more.

When booking, simply pick the speaker you would like to hear from in a small presentation and then join the rest of the speakers on a Q&A panel.

In the FILM & ANIMATION section we have;

Laura Richards - Laura began her career in the North East, working on a variety of short films, commercials and dramas for TV and screen. She then spent several years working as a Production Coordinator on prime-time entertainment TV shows. Her credits include ITV's Celebrity Juice and The Only Way Is Essex and BBC's Junior Apprentice. Laura recently set up Evolve.jobs to help young people in the North East get their foot in the door in the creative and digital industries.

Marc Runkee - As the Managing Director and Creative Developer of Digital Sidekick, I deliver high-quality audio-visual materials for various uses such as corporate videos, creative showreels, digital and gaming content. My expertise in filming, editing and animation has allowed me to work with major global brands and deliver award-winning work. With over 15 years’ experience in this industry, I also possess the ability to quickly understand my clients' objectives, enabling me to consistently deliver highly engaging solutions.

Craig Hawkes - From being a fine art graduate turn film student, now a director at Kaleidoscope Creative Film Agency, Craig learnt on the job and started his entrepreneurial journey as the Co-Founder and Creative Director of docYOUmentary films. Then in August 2017 founded Kaleidoscope Creative Films Agency to take the creative reins on his own. Then in September 2017 Co-Founded The Foundery with Jake Newport to focus on the stories behind businesses.

Alex Davy - After falling into storyboarding by chance, Alex Davy (previously with Arcus Animation) now has her own studio in the heart of Newcastle city centre, which concentrates on storyboarding for animation and illustration. In the past year, she has experienced storyboarding for movie studios, TV shows, adverts, E4 stingers and more! If you love sketching and you love animation, Storyboarding might be the path for you.
