"The tiniest and most vulnerable among us deserve the best opportunities we can provide." - Dr. Jane Aronson.

As a nannie to premature twins, this quote deeply resonates with me. My lovely twin grandchildren, Ava and Archie, entered the world three months early, facing numerous challenges from their very first moments. Having personally experienced this as a grandparent, I recognize the critical need for essential lifesaving equipment, accommodations, and support for families undergoing similar experiences.

Throughout my time at the hospital, I witnessed the unwavering dedication and love of the doctors and nurses who never gave up on our twins. However, I also observed the unit's need for more resources to assist all parents, especially those not as fortunate as my family.

Bolton NICU collaborates with family-integrated care (FiCare), promoting the involvement of families in the care of their infants in the NICU. Recognizing the physical separation's impact on both parents and infants, Family-Centered Care advocates for greater parent involvement in healthcare planning. The funds raised this year will support additional breastfeeding chairs and other elements facilitating a more hands-on approach for parents.

At seven weeks old, Archie underwent lifesaving surgery at St Mary's Children's Hospital. During this challenging time, The Ronald McDonald House provided invaluable support, making everything a bit more manageable.

Ronald McDonald House Manchester plays a crucial role for families with children undergoing treatment at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital and St Mary's Neonatal Unit. Offering a "home away from home" free of charge, the House provides a comfortable and supportive environment. The team understands the toll a hospital stay takes on a family and strives to offer the care and understanding they deserve.

We aim to honor babies born sleeping or too poorly to survive, acknowledging the devastating loss experienced by 1 in 200 UK families. Sands, a Manchester-based charity, provides emotional and practical support, information for healthcare professionals, and funds research to improve bereavement care.

This year, we are proud to support our fourth charity partner, The Royal Oldham NHS Care Organisation. The Oldham NICU provides specialized care for 37 premature and sick babies, contributing to the limited intensive care units in Greater Manchester.

Our World Prematurity Charity Ball aims to raise awareness and support for the dedicated doctors and nurses caring for our tiniest and most fragile babies, while also generating funds for essential facilities. Over the past four years, we've raised a total of £57,000, with an amazing £22,525.50 raised in our 2023 event. This year, we extend our donations to four causes: The Royal Bolton Hospitals NICU, Ronald McDonald House, The Royal Oldham NICU, and Sands.

The funds raised so far have funded extra accommodation rooms and parent facilities at Ronald McDonald House Manchester and Arrow Park NICU. We've been able to makeover the parents' room at Bolton Hospital. This includes a new TV's, bedding, and other essentials. Additionally, we've provided more breastfeeding chairs and pumps, as well as break-out seating areas for parents to reset and focus on the care of their children. Last year we purchased Christmas presents to all the babies and their siblings who were in Oldham NICU at Christmas. We also donated to Sands Manchester who continue to give on going support to parents across Greater Manchester.

We know none of this would be possible without all your support and we invite you to join us for an unforgettable night with a three-course meal, drinks on arrival, live music, and entertainment. Last year was incredible, but we aim to make this year even bigger and better. Please continue to support us in raising even more funds for our chosen charities, making a meaningful difference in the lives of premature babies and their families.
