St Hilda's College, Oxford is delighted to welcome Brenda Hale, Baroness Hale of Richmond, Deputy President UK Supreme Court, who will give the 2016 Lady English Lecture on:
The Conflict of Equalities: Religion, Gender, and Sexual Orientation
The law prohibits discrimination on the grounds of various protected characteristics, including sex, sexual orientation and religious belief. But what if one person’s freedom to manifest his religious beliefs conflicts with another person’s rights to be treated equally irrespective of her sex or sexual orientation? How is the law to resolve such conflicts of equalities?
The lecture will take place in the Jacqueline du Pré Music Building at 6pm, followed by a drinks reception in the Foyer. All welcome.
