Event description

Description

An evening investigating the impact of the turbulent religious infighting of Tudor court life that led to the execution of the Nine Day Queen - Lady Jane Grey.

Presented as part of the WOEFUL PUPPET installation at St Katharine Cree 20-30 June.

We will explore the inner and outer life of Lady Jane Grey using her own words through her letters and poetry and investigate what life would have been like for this young noblewoman before she was thrust, unwillingly, on the political stage. In addition a talk about the Protestant martyr Anne Askew.

We will also present Tudor music, food and filmed segments. There will be an opportunity to speak to the specialist presenters whilst visiting the installation created by our community researchers and participants.

Funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
