Event description

Description

We are pleased to invite you to the 'Poetry in Translation' event organised by your fellow LAHP-funded student Connie Bloomfield in collaboration with Enitharmon.

We will be joined by an exciting selection of Enitharmon poets and translators for an exploratory evening of discussion, poetry readings, and some translational experiments, inviting each writer to translate a poem from a language they do not speak, and explain their choices in the process. We hope it will be a playful and interactive event, designed to engage with the potential breadth and creativity of the idea of translation and transformation. The event will be followed by a drinks reception with a chance to continue discussions.

The writers: David Harsent (winner of the T.S. Eliot Prize, the Forward Prize, and the Griffin International Poetry Prize), who translated Yannis Ritsos; the award winning poet Martin Crucifix, who translated Rilke and the Daodejing; Emma Wagstaff and Nina Parish, who co-edited 'Writing the Real: A Bilingual Anthology of Contemporary French Poetry’; and Jane Duran, also an award winning poet, who translated two critically acclaimed translations of Federico García Lorca.

Please get in touch with us if you require any support or reasonable adjustment to facilitate your participation in this event.

As places are limited at 60, please book by 15th January.
