Event Information
About this Event
From Monday 8 March, we are launching a new study space booking system. Bookings for Tuesday 9 March onwards will be booked in the new system.
After Friday 5 March, there will be no further study spaces released through Eventbrite.
Read more about the new booking system at Library news.
The Department for Education defines essential use primarily to support the following categories of students:
- those studying medicine, dentistry, nursing and other subjects allied to medicine/health, education (initial teacher training) and social work
- those on a very limited number of courses which require Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Body (PSRB) assessments and /or other PSRB mandatory activity
- those requiring additional support, including those with mental health and wellbeing issues
- and, in exceptional circumstances, those who do not have access to appropriate study spaces or facilities in their accommodation.
Please think very carefully before you book a library study space so that they can be used by those who need them most, and so that we continue to play our part in reducing the number of visits to campus and so reduce the spread of the virus.
The Library is a COVID secure environment. We regularly check compliance with COVID guidelines, including the use of face coverings, following the one-way systems and keeping a two-metre social distance at all times. If you don’t follow this guidance we reserve the right to ask you to leave, in order to keep our staff and other students safe.
Please regularly use the campus Coronavirus testing facility if you use the Library. You must wear a face covering at all times inside the Library.
For up to date information about our services, visit the Library website.
Studying at the Laidlaw Library
We offer a choice of study session times– currently morning, afternoon and evening on weekdays, morning and afternoon on weekends – with new slots released daily at around 3pm.
You can arrive at any time during your booked session.
When you book, you are reserving a particular study space – you must only use this space during your session. Please do not move to another desk. If there are issues with your space please let staff know. Moving desks may mean you are taking a space from someone else.
You will not be able to access materials on shelves during your session – please use click and collect.
Please stay at home if you have any Coronavirus symptoms.
When you arrive
Please queue outside the main Blenheim Terrance entrance on arrival. We try to move the queue as quickly as possible, but make sure that you dress for the weather.
Please bring your University ID and booking details with you to show to staff on arrival. They will give you a desk number and direct you to your seat.
Study spaces are clearly numbered – please use your assigned study space only.
Please follow directional signage in the Library. There is a one way system in place throughout the Library, including lifts.
Cancelling your booking
If you’re not able to make it for any reason, please cancel your booking so the study session can be made available for someone else.
To cancel your booking, go to Eventbrite and click your name or avatar in the top right of the page. There you can access the Tickets page. Select the ticket you want to cancel. To the left of your screen there are some options for your tickets, click cancel to make the space available for someone else.
