As we are now out of bird nesting season we will be starting on the habitat management tasks, trying our best to provide the best conditions for the flora and fauna that calls Lakeside Home.
Task 10th September - The task will be taking place in the public access grazing compartment, The tasks is to stop encroachment of scrub onto the grassland, allowing grassland species to thrive. This management is part of Lakeside Country Park’s countryside stewardship agreement. Following the cutting and clearence, stumps will be treated with glyphosate to help reduce regrowing. Please bring appropriate PPE (Gloves, Boots, Long Trousers, Waterproof Clothing).
10am meet by the ranger store at the south end of lakes near the public loos.
Please wear sturdy footwear and warm clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty and be prepared with waterproofs in case of rain. We can provide gloves but please bring your own if you have them.
We will provide hot drinks and biscuits, but you may want to bring a water bottle. Unfortunately, we cannot cater to all dietary needs at this time, so you may want to bring your own snack if this applies to you.
Tools will be provided and a safety briefing will be carried out at the beginning of each task.
If you suffer from allergies or require medication, please remember to take/bring your medication.
If weather or wind will make the session too dangerous to run, we will attempt to call you on the number provided.
