About this event

Folk does not belong to anyone. It is everybody’s.’

We are proud to welcome Lally MacBeth to Waterstones to talk about her excellent debut book, The Lost Folk, published by Faber in June. Lally is a Cornwall-based artist and writer, and also founder of The Folk Archive and co-founder of The Stone Club, alongside Matthew Shaw – as featured recently on BBC Radio 3.

The Lost Folk is a fresh and engaging celebration of the customs, places, objects and people that make up what we know as ‘folk’ in Britain. An exploration of the every day world around us, the past that lives on in plain sight, the book looks at communities, lifestyles and customs that are vanishing in a new world building up around it – and importantly it examines how folk traditions might be preserved, to inspire future generations of creators and characters.

Following the talk there will be a q&a, followed by a book signing. Lally will be in conversation with fellow co-founder of The Stone Club Matthew Shaw.

Please note: the book and ticket option includes a copy of The Lost Folk (RRP £25) available for collection on the night.
