An opportunity for community groups, greenspace professionals, link worker wellbeing / disability referral professionals, voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise groups from:

South Ribble,
Preston,
Chorley
West Lancashire

to meet and quality assure the “people and nature offer” of the Local Nature Recovery Strategy - Lancashire County Council

Also an opportunity to find out about a new “People and Nature” sub group of the Lancashire Local Nature Partnership.

We particularly encourage professionals and volunteer naturalists, outdoor community projects (e.g. health walks, mindfulness, bushcraft), Friends of groups, in bloom, gardening, community land managers to get involved. Projects could just be at an ideas stage. To get representation from a broad spectrum of groups we would encourage a maximum of 2 members from each interested group to attend.

According to the Government’s Environmental Improvement Plan 2023 - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) page Goal 10 Enhancing beauty, heritage and engagement with the natural environment we are aiming to make green and blue spaces more inclusive and support more people to benefit from nature. We know that over 90% of adults report that time spent outdoors is good for their physical and mental health. Unfortunately, 38% of people do not have green or blue space within 15 minutes’ walk of their home. We seek to address this in our local area and to incorporate nature connection into everyday lives and we know this will also (amongst many things) address health inequalities and reduce car journeys.
