Persimmon

Persimmon blends together an electric mix of jazz, neo-soul, R&B, hip-hop, spoken word, and dance/electronica - rooted in the band’s early foundations in contemporary jazz. Their music blends creative improvisation and groove-driven rhythms with lyrics that speak to grief, longing, anti-capitalist rage, and utopian dreaming.

They simply enjoy playing together, developing ideas, and having fun on stage, and are motivated by a collective desire to share their fresh music with new audiences while striving to push jazz in new and exciting directions.

Taking inspiration from the current UK jazz scene, they make music that’s fresh, vibrant and accessible, while speaking directly to audiences.

NONUNONU

Manchester's nu-jazz fusion outfit, NONUNONU, emerged in 2019 with a captivating blend of intricate compositions and electrifying improvisation. Since then, they've carved their path in the UK's evolving jazz scene through some high profile support slots and a couple of UK tours.

Their live shows are a whirlwind of intensity and dynamism, ranging from intense, fast and furious to gentle and subdued, leaving audiences spellbound.

Their heavy improvisational influences and intense group interplay mean that the show is different every time, as they explore the new directions a composition can go.

The Exu

The Exu make layered, intense, creative and beautiful, thought provoking, genre fluid improvised music.

The trio draw their influences from the worlds of free jazz, grunge, death metal, hip hop, bebop, experimental music and beyond.

‘We are the sum of our record collections, the films we have seen, the books we have read. It all goes into the mix.’ - Dave Kane

Compositions from Kane and Mainwaring sit on Norwegian drummer Emil Karlsen’s versatile, intricate textures and groove. Mainwaring blends fiery and sensitive saxophone approaches with a playful edge, while Kane ignites each performance with cathartic, heartfelt energy that lingers long after the final note.
