After productive and enjoyable workshops hosted by colleagues at Lancaster in 2015 and Stockholm this May, Hans Kjellberg, Martin Kornberger and Neil Pollock are hosting LancStock 3 on April 6th and 7th 2017 at the University of Edinburgh Business School.
Our focus remains on on-going PhD-projects and junior faculty research, with a few presentations by senior researchers. For example, Julia Elyachar has just confirmed that she can come to give a keynote. Although the program is yet to be set, this year’s event will still be around market studies but with a focus on market infrastructure and materiality. Not all presentations need to be about materiality as we will be open as always to a variety of themes, but we wanted to reflect a growing interest in market studies scholarship on material things.
You might also like to note that Martin Kornberger, Neil Pollock and Geoff Bowker are running a session at EGOS on ‘Thinking Infrastructure’, which you are encouraged to apply to, as market studies papers will be particularly welcome.
Some funding will be available for the workshop: each of our schools may have funds and the University of Edinburgh Business School will (hopefully) be able to make a (small) contribution towards travel expenses within Europe and accommodation for PhD-students (this will depend on numbers attending).
Because the University of Edinburgh encourages academic visits, we are delighted to offer you discounted accommodation. Availability can be checked and bookings made at http://www.book.accom.ed.ac.uk. When you book online, use the promotional code ‘CONF17’ for a 15% discount (the code not be used along with any other discounts).
