Description

Our National Park ‘Land of Iron’ project tells the trailblazing story of ironstone mining and railways in the North York Moors –and a whole host of special ‘Land of Iron’ events throughout the year celebrate this extraordinary period. Join us on a 3-mile walk as we explore the remains of an ironstone mining and processing complex, and hear about archaeological excavations at the site.

Part of the ‘Heritage Open Days’ programme. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Packed lunch required. Sorry no dogs.

Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.

Our guided walks are free, although a suggested donation of £2 is welcome, helping us to care for the National Park.
