Description

Our National Park ‘Land of Iron’ project tells the trailblazing story of ironstone mining and railways in the North York Moors –and a whole host of special ‘Land of Iron’ events throughout the year celebrate this extraordinary period. An enlightening look around Grosmont with local heritage expert Tam Naylor and her collection of old photographs and maps. On a 3-mile stroll, visit medieval metal workings, bluebell woods, the whinstone dyke, Rail Trail, Esk Valley Mine and remains of Grosmont Ironworks.

Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Sorry no dogs.

Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.

Our guided walks are free, although a suggested donation of £2 is welcome, helping us to care for the National Park.
