The lovely boot of Italy is a mosaic of wine and indigenous grape varieties like few other regions. In fact, when the Greek Empire reached the shores of Italy they called it 'Oenotria', the Land of Wine, and there is hardly a sunny hill or plentiful valley that isn't or hasn't at some point been growing grapes for making wine.
For this week's tasting we will explore some of our absolute favourite indigenous Italian varieties, from the much celebrated Nebbiolos of Piedmont, to the regal Sangioveses of Tuscany, and to hidden treasures and new discoveries of Southern Italy and beyond.
Our shop tastings start at 7.30pm and run for approximately one-and-a-half to two hours. We will taste 6-8 wines on a theme, and bread, cheese and charcuterie is provided to match with the wines. Due to the communal nature of the tasting, we are unable to cater for dietary requirements.
