Join the National Trust for Scotland's Arran Ranger Service and Forestry & Land Scotland to learn about the wildlife, cultural history, archaeology, mountains, forestry industry and much more about this fascinating island on this all-day Land Rover "safari" into the heart of Arran.
We will take forestry trails, closed to public vehicles, to get to various archaeological sites (some very rarely visited due to their inaccessibility) whilst searching for wildlife along the way. Passing through the heartlands of Arran's farming communities, we will have the chance to point out notable features, talk about the history of Arran from the earliest settlers to the Arranachs of today. Venturing into the interior we will explore the forestry plantations and learn about this modern day industry and how it is managed for the benefit of the resident wildlife.
We will have various stop-offs where we can stretch our legs and take photos as we walk to different viewpoints overlooking sweeping glens, expansive bays, mountains and moorland.
None of our destinations require lots of physical effort to get to however some are a few minutes walk from the vehicle on rough paths so we advise wearing comfortable shoes or boots and bringing waterproofs in case we're caught in the rain.
We will provide a step to assist with accessing your seat in the Land Rover if necessary, however if you have any mobility issues and aren't sure whether this tour is for you, please give us a ring on 01770 302462 to discuss.
The tour will last for around 6 hours, starting with a pick-up from the main car park at Brodick Castle, Gardens & Country Park at 09:30 and aiming to return to the same point for around 15:30.
There will be coffee stops provided along the way and public toilets available to use at points throughout the day.
Please bring a packed lunch and any other refreshments you may desire - there is nowhere to purchase lunch on this tour - we are heading well away from civilisation!
We advise bringing a few essentials such as any personal medication, suncream, insect repellent / midge net, binoculars, camera etc.
Tickets are being sold on a first come, first served basis and as we only have 4 seats available in the Land Rover we recommend you book early to avoid disappointment.
