Event description

Description

The Land Skills Day brings together pioneers of the growing movement of people seeking to create sustainable livelihoods from the land. The day is aimed at individuals and groups looking to start land-based projects and businesses or already working the land and wanting to deepen their knowledge and strengthen their skills. All workshops are led by experienced farmers and land-based workers. The day is modelled around farmer-to-farmer learning in action and agroecology knowledge exchange.

Workshops are designed to be as practical and useful as possible, pulling on the collective knowledge of each group, helping to form connections with like-minded people and mentors. There are also opportunities to learn about the current political climate regarding land and food both nationally and internationally. There will also be opportunities to get involved!

The Land Skills Day is brought to you by the Land Workers' Alliance who are part of La Via Campesina, the largest Union in the world comprising of over 200 million members. Land Workers' Alliance work in collaboration with the Green Scythe Fair who kindly support the day by allowing the LWA to use their space during set up. The event is not for profit and is run to support the principles of food sovereignty and related political activities.

Included in the price is a Local Organic Feast, provided by the Peasants' Lunchbox catering collective and live feet stompin’ music in the evening with a bar as well as entrance to the Green Scythe Fair the following day.

Extras include:

- A delicious dinner by Fivepenny Farm in Dorset £8 each payable on the night

- Camping is an extra £5 pppn (Sat-Sun night) payable on arrival (but please indicate your plans when booking)
