What happens when the audience decides the fate of three storytellers?
Inspired by Celtic myth and coastal folklore, Land Under Wave invites the audience to participate in a traditional Scottish ceilidh with a modern twist. Old stories are given new life through the lens of three young storytellers as we tell a series of stories which contrast the lived realities of modern Scottish culture with ancient myths and legends.
Three storytellers, trapped in the Otherworld, must perform for the court of the faeries to earn their freedom. Which story does the human realm need to hear the most? The audience decides! In this intimate and interactive piece, storyteller-musicians Mark Borthwick, Ailsa Dixon, and David Hughes navigate the mysteries of emergence, transformation and becoming, blending their voices with music to explore queer identity and the rewilding of people and place.
This performance invites you to pause, reflect and sink into something deeper.
“An original and densely woven narrative from the beginnings of life to the ends of it… Equally masterful in narrative and lyricism.” ★★★★★ (The Scotsman)
