About this event

“How to identify and deal with health and safety hazards in your property and reduce the risk of being in breach of the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) legislation.”

This half day course will provide an overview of the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018 (the Act) and the implications it has for residential landlords who fail to ensure their properties are free from hazards at the commencement and during a tenancy.

The course will cover:

• What the Act means for landlords and tenants

• How the Act fits in with HHSRS

• Identifying hazards in properties

• Case studies for group discussion

The course will be delivered by Faye Swanwick who has many years’ experience working within housing standards, including eleven years at Unipol Student Homes. Faye has expert knowledge of HHSRS and fire safety in respect to property compliance inspections and has worked in close partnership with local authorities.
